Internal voltage regulator to set your charging to a set 14.2 volts. Basically turning your Cummins alternator into a one wire unit. Great for engine swaps or when your dodge factory computer-based voltage regulator fails. Does not work with Bosch alternator!!! Fits Denso Alternator 1989-2002 The 2001 have plugin instead of 2 small posts, can use exact same diagram just instead of orange/green wires going to alternators post, they must be connected to 2 pins inside the alternators plug.

Tech Questions:
I bought the Cummins alternator one wire voltage regulator and it seems to only work half the time, half of the time it’ll regulate at that 14 V that it’s supposed to be at and the other half of the time it goes all the way up to 17 to 18 V. I wired it up based on the diagram I was sent. I’m not sure if it’s a wiring problem or it’s an actual problem with the regulator.
ANSWER or possible solution:
Make sure the wire from the truck to the orange wire off our regulator is good.  A poor or high resistance connection  will cause the symptom you describe.
