47re 48re to 205 Transfer Case Spacer
47re 48re to 205 Transfer Case Spacer
.5” Transfer Case Spacer for NP205 Swaps
To bolt the NP205 transfer case that came in your 1989–1993 Cummins (and many other applications), you need a .5” spacer to prevent the two male shafts from contacting one another.
We use this when swapping or upgrading a Cummins-equipped 1972–1993 Dodge with an NP205 case to a 47RE or 48RE transmission. The same setup can also work in many other applications with similar parts.
This is simply that: a .5” thick steel spacer. No hardware included. In most cases, the stock studs will work; otherwise the necessary hardware information is included in the product sheet with pertinent 47RE/48RE swap info.
Key Specs
- Spacer thickness: .5 inch
- Material: Steel
- Prevents interference between male input/output shafts when pairing NP205 with 47RE/48RE
- Fits: 1989–1993 Cummins NP205 setups; adaptable to many other compatible applications
- Hardware: Not included; stock studs often work—see included product sheet if longer hardware is required
What’s Included
- .5” thick steel spacer
- Product sheet with 47RE/48RE swap hardware notes
Installation
- Remove the NP205 transfer case for access to the mating surface.
- Position the .5” spacer between the transmission and transfer case.
- Reuse stock studs if length is sufficient; if not, source hardware per the included sheet.
- Tighten hardware to factory torque specifications.
- Reinstall transfer case and confirm clearance between shafts.
Basic hand tools required. Confirm stud length before final assembly.
Shop Notes
Designed for Cummins NP205 + 47RE/48RE swaps but adaptable to many other applications. Simple, proven solution—no extra hardware unless required by stud length. Ask us about FFS in-house install.
