99-04 Ford F-250/F-350 4WD and 99-05 Excursion 4WD Super Duty Steering Kit
A complete replacement steering system for the 99-04 Super Duty and 99-05 Excursion 4x4. We removed the factory T-style steering and replaced it with an all new layout: a straight tie rod, a new drag link, and the longest matching track bar made for these trucks. Watch the install on YouTube.
What's in the Box
- Tie Rod: straight design for easy adjustment and a cleaner look than the factory bar
- Drag Link
- Track Bar: longer than stock so it matches the drag link. The factory track bar is short compared to the drag link, which causes bump steer.
- Axle Side Track Bar Bracket: replaces the factory bracket, which wastes space and is known to crack. It adjusts the track bar for both height and length.
- Rod ends and mounting hardware
Choose Your Options
Stabilizer
- No Stabilizer: steering kit only. This kit removes the factory stabilizer mount to make room for the longer track bar, so your original stabilizer will not go back on.
- Stabilizer (recommended): adds a Fox steering stabilizer and our heavy duty diff cover built from 1/4" and 3/8" steel. The diff cover has the axle mount for the stabilizer built in, and the other end threads directly into the tie rod.
Powder Coat Options
- Wrinkle Black: our standard finish
- Custom Color: Single Coat: any solid color from Prismatic Powders' 6,500+ colors. Browse colors here and include the part number with your order.
- Custom Color: Dual Coat (Base/Clear or Illusions): for metallic, candy and Illusion colors that need a base coat and a clear coat. Include the Prismatic part number with your order.
- No Finish: bare steel, shipped raw. Coat or paint it to prevent rust.
Powder coat is applied to the bars and bracket. The Fox stabilizer keeps its factory finish.
Lift Height
Fits 0-8" of lift. Up to about 4" of lift, no drop bracket is needed. Past 4", the track bar sits at a steep angle and pulls the axle side to side as the suspension moves, because a leaf spring axle wants to travel straight up and down. For 4-8" of lift you also need a dropped pitman arm and a track bar drop bracket that drops the same amount as the pitman arm. These are not included with this kit.
Built With
- 1.5" OD DOM steel tubing, 1/4" wall
- Heavy duty, heat treated chromoly rod ends
- Geometry designed to reduce or eliminate bump steer
- Optional rod end boots available for easier maintenance
Installation
- The knuckles and pitman arm must be drilled to a straight 3/4" hole. Recommended reamer tool
- Typical shop install time: 4-6 hours
- Get an alignment after install
- Watch the 99-04 Super Duty steering video
Good to Know
- Rod end life: installed with no binding through full steering and suspension travel, and sprayed with a penetrant or lubricant now and then, the rod ends last for years.
- Replacement parts: a full rod end and hardware set is $135.
- Drilling is permanent: once the knuckles and pitman arm are drilled to 3/4", factory tapered parts will not go back in. We don't offer a return to stock insert.
- Alignment help: a live axle truck is simple to align yourself, and we can walk you through it. Just reach out to the parts team if you need help here.
